Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born April 26, 1991 also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In the month of October, Ari Lennox released her debut EP Pho. This was the moment that she was recognized. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet back in 2012 after she released her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox release her own single Bound along with her self-released mixtape Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21, 2015. J. Cole had her sing her songs for the Dreamville Team in the following year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. It was announced on December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she recorded with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. She released Pho, her debut album on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performance on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018, she appeared as a guest on two songs, with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The album's first single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream dropped on the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a a music video. Then, on the 9th of November 2018 she dropped two additional singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November, 13 she dropped two more singles entitled One and Pdigree. One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. The 20th of February, 2019, a music video was released for the song. It already has nearly 3 millions views on YouTube in its initial week. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
